Adalah Shaggydog, sebuah band kugiran dari kota Yogyakarta yang sudah cukup
berpengalaman dalam melakukan tour ke luar Indonesia. Pernah diundang tour ke Belanda di
tahun 2004 dan 2006 serta ke Australia di 2009 telah menunjukkan bahwa Shaggydog tidak
hanya bisa diterima oleh penikmat musik di Indonesia, tapi juga di negara lain. Melalui booking
agency mereka di DoggyHouse Records manajemen, akhir tahun 2015 lalu mereka kembali
mendapatkan undangan untuk melanglang buana ke Amerika Serikat, tepatnya di sebuah festival
bertajuk The South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conferences & Festival di bulan Maret 2016.
SXSW merupakan sebuah perhelatan akbar insan musik dan dunia hiburan yang
diselenggarakan setiap tahun di Austin, Texas, Amerika Serikat. SXSW merupakan salah satu
event yang paling dinantikan dimana ada sekitar 30.000 praktisi hiburan serta hampir 3000 media
massa yang berpartisipasi dalam setiap perhelatan akbar yang sudah digelar sejak 1987 ini.
Semua hal yang terkait dengan industri musik dan hiburan ada di event ini mulai dari perusahaan
pembuat alat musik, kritikus musik dan film, promotor, label, publisher, percetakan yang membuat
kover album, sampai rumah produksi film.
Band dan musisi sebesar Metallica, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake, Tori Amos, Prince, Lionel Richie,
Bruce Springsteen, Hanson, Norah Jones, Iggy Pop, Green Day, Johnny Cash sampai The SIGIT
dan White Shoes And The Couple Company pun pernah bermain di event musik SXSW. Figur
penting dalam dunia hiburan juga banyak yang menjadi pembicara di panel diskusi musik SXSW
semisal Elliott Mazer (produser Neil Young), Tony Brown (MCA Records), David Fricke (majalah
musik Rolling Stone). Bintang film semisal Sandra Bullock,Paul Walker, Ethan Hawke, Elijah
Wood sampai sutradara sekelas Quentin Tarantino dan Robert Rodriguez pernah menjadi talent
dan pembicara di panel diskusi film SXSW. Sementara di bidang teknologi ada Edward Snowden,
Mark Zuckerberg, Al Gore dan Sean Parker (Napster) pernah didaulat sebagai pembicara di
SXSW Interactive.
Tahun 2016 ini, SXSW akan digelar mulai tanggal 1520 Maret 2016. Shaggydog akan bermain 2
kali yaitu di hari Kamis 17 Maret 2016, pukul 8 malam di Flamingo Cantina (515 E 6th St) serta di
hari Sabtu 19 Maret 2016 pukul 9 malam di Russian House (307 E 5th St). Line up SXSW 2016
sendiri antara lain ada band Rock USA; Mercury Rev, legenda Pop Punk; NOFX, Rapper Taiwan;

Keberangkatan Shaggydog kali ini didukung oleh Hurley, Electrohell, Malaria House dan Rumah
Budaya Indonesia serta dukungan penuh dari pihak pemerintah Indonesia, terutama Konsulat
Jenderal Republik Indonesia di Houston, Amerika Serikat. Shaggydog sebagai satu satunya wakil
Indonesia yang akan bermain di SXSW 2016, tentunya akan menambah daftar konsistensi band
dari Indonesia yang pernah berpartisipasi di event ini. Penampilan Shaggydog di SXSW 2016
nanti sekaligus untuk mempromosikan beberapa materi di album baru yang sedang dalam proses
pengerjaan dimana ada beberapa lagu mereka yang berbahasa Inggris.

SHAGGYDOG GOES SXSW 2016: FROM JOGJA TO TEXAS!
Shaggydog is a band established in Sayidan, Yogyakarta on the 1st of June 1997. With an
increasingly evolving musicality skill, they showed that they didn’t only hope to be accepted by
music lovers in Indonesia, but also in the whole world, and at once to heat up the competition in
the music industry. With their good connection, Shaggydog was offered a tour in Holland in June
2004 by Festival Mundial Production. The success of this tour is making them another tour in
Holland between March to April 2006, this time as the headliner. In August 2009 saw Shaggydog
doing a show in Darwin Festival, Australia. Then through their booking agency in DoggyHouse
Records management, in the end of 2015 the band was offered to play in the 2016’s edition of
The South by Southwest (SXSW) Conferences & Festivals.
The SXSW is the annual music and entertainment festival in Austin, Texas, USA. The event has
changed in many surprising and meaningful ways since 1987, but at its core, SXSW remains a
tool for creative people to develop their careers by bringing together people from around the globe
to meet, learn and share ideas. Today the SXSW offer the unique industry convergence of music,
film, and emerging technologies. The event is a launch pad for innovative content with new media
presentations, music showcases and film screenings providing exposure for creators and
compelling entertainment for attendees.

SIGIT also White Shoes And The Couple Company was playing at the SXSW Music. Some
important figures in the history of entertainment also become a keynote speaker such as Elliott
Mazer (Neil Young’s producer), Tony Brown (MCA Records), and David Fricke (Rolling Stone
magazine). Movie stars such as Sandra Bullock, Paul Walker, Ethan Hawke, Elijah Wood and
movie directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez have become a talent and speakers in
the discussion panels at SXSW Film. In the technology side, Edward Snowden, Mark Zuckerberg,
Al Gore, also Sean Parker (Napster) already become the keynote speakers in the SXSW
Interactive.
The SXSW 2016 event will takes place in March 15th20th, 2016. In this festival, Shaggydog will
play 2 shows: Thursday, March 17 start at 8 PM at Flamingo Cantina (515 E 6th St) and second
show in Saturday, March 19 start at 9 PM at Russian House (307 E 5th St). Other acts in this year

Shaggydog, who will be the only representative from Indonesia in the SXSW 2016, will promote
some of their new songs from the forthcoming album. The band is fully supported by Hurley,
Electrohell, Malaria House and Rumah Budaya Indonesia as well as the Indonesian government,
especially the Indonesian Consulate at Houston, Texas.
